Puigdemont's Junts Registers Motion Demanding Sánchez Face Confidence Vote, Citing Broken Agreements
Dec 9, 2024, 10:43 AM
Carles Puigdemont, leader of Junts per Catalunya, has announced from Brussels that his party has registered an initiative in the Spanish Congress requesting that Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez submit to a motion of confidence. Puigdemont criticized Sánchez for "not being trustworthy" and for "failing to fulfill" the investiture agreement made with Junts. He stated that "one year after" supporting Sánchez's government, "things are not going well" and declared, "the time has come for a turning point or to let it go." Puigdemont also noted that Junts has not yet contacted other parliamentary groups but will seek their support after registering the initiative. The initiative aims to force a debate and vote in Congress on the confidence in Sánchez's leadership.
