Israel Facilitates 1.2 Billion Pounds, 791,521 Tons of Aid to Gaza Amid Distribution Challenges
Jul 15, 2024, 08:39 AM
Israel has facilitated the transfer of humanitarian aid through five entry points into Gaza, with over 1.2 billion pounds of food, water, and other supplies delivered since the conflict began last October. This includes 791,521 tons transported by 41,897 trucks. Despite these efforts, aid distribution has faced significant challenges. The United Nations and other aid organizations have struggled to pick up and distribute the aid due to operational difficulties and security concerns. Reports indicate that some aid trucks have been looted upon entry into Gaza, with incidents occurring at the Rafah crossing where UN vehicles lead the convoys. Additionally, there are allegations that Israeli forces have either stood by or participated in obstructing aid delivery. Israel maintains that there is no genocide or famine in Gaza and that humanitarian aid continues to flow without restrictions.
