China's top legislature, the Standing Committee of the 14th National People's Congress, passed a new energy law on Friday aimed at promoting carbon neutrality. The law, which will take effect on January 1, 2025, covers energy planning, exploitation and utilization, market building, and technological innovation. This move, reported by state media, is part of China's broader strategy to decarbonize its economy by 2060, with expectations for CO2 emissions to peak before then.
