AMD Begins Qualifying Chip Production at TSMC's Arizona Fab 21, Following Apple
Oct 10, 2024, 06:52 PM
AMD is qualifying chip production at Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company's (TSMC) new Fab 21 facility in Arizona, according to statements made by AMD CEO Lisa Su at a recent company event. The company hinted at its intention to be a customer of this fab more than a year ago. This move positions AMD as the second major customer of TSMC's Arizona plant, following Apple. AMD has no current plans to use other foundries besides TSMC. The qualification of chip production at TSMC's Arizona facility signifies AMD's commitment to expanding its manufacturing capabilities within the United States.
