Mike Bloomberg's $1 Billion Donation Makes Johns Hopkins Medical School Tuition-Free for Most Students Starting Fall 2024
Jul 8, 2024, 12:47 PM
Bloomberg Philanthropies, led by Mike Bloomberg, has announced a $1 billion donation to Johns Hopkins University, aimed at making the School of Medicine tuition-free for most medical students. Beginning in the fall of 2024, the gift will cover tuition for students from families earning under $300,000 a year, which represents 95% of all Americans. Additionally, students from families earning up to $175,000 will receive a full ride, including living expenses. This generous donation will also increase financial aid for students in other graduate programs at Johns Hopkins, such as nursing and public health, and is part of an effort to increase U.S. life expectancy.
