A fuel tanker explosion in northern Nigeria's Jigawa state has killed at least 147 people, including children, and injured around 70 others, authorities said on Wednesday. The incident occurred on Tuesday in Majiya town, Taura Local Government Area, after a tanker overturned when the driver lost control. Residents rushed to the scene to collect the leaking petrol, and the tanker exploded, causing a massive fire that engulfed the crowd. Emergency services have confirmed the death toll, which may rise further. The injured have been taken to local hospitals for treatment.
