The Post Fire in the Angeles National Forest has rapidly expanded, now covering 14,625 acres with only 2% containment. The fire, which began on June 16, 2024, has been exacerbated by windy conditions, pushing the blaze and smoke plume southeast of Pyramid Lake. Initial reports indicated the fire was 0% contained at 11,000 acres. By 11am, the fire had burned 12,264 acres. Red flag and high wind warnings continue in the region. Firefighters are employing backfiring and burnout techniques to control the spread. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
