Corral Fire in San Joaquin County Expands to Nearly 5,000 Acres, 40% Contained, Winds Gusting 43 mph

The Corral Fire in San Joaquin County, near the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory Site 300, has expanded to nearly 5,000 acres. Initially mapped at 946 acres, the fire has grown rapidly due to wind gusts of up to 43 mph and low relative humidity. The fire has crossed Interstate 580 and Corral Hollow Rd, producing heavy smoke and moving southeast, driven by strong winds. Two strike teams of type 1 engines have been requested for structure protection. The fire is currently 40% contained, and air crews are on scene. The incident is under Unified Command with CAL FIRE and Alameda County Fire Department.
