VisitSeven French Families Sue TikTok Over Harmful Content Leading to Teen Suicides
Nov 4, 2024, 10:59 AM
Seven French families have filed a lawsuit against social media giant TikTok, accusing the platform of exposing their adolescent children to harmful content that led to two of them taking their own lives at 15. The lawsuit, filed on Monday, alleges that TikTok's algorithm exposed the teenagers to videos promoting suicide, self-harm, and eating disorders. This is the first such grouped case in Europe. The families, represented by their lawyer, claim that TikTok failed to remove harmful content, which they believe contributed to the mental health decline of their children.
