Vogt of Guardians and Murphy of Brewers Named 2024 Managers of the Year in Debut Seasons
Nov 19, 2024, 11:45 PM
Stephen Vogt has been named the 2024 American League Manager of the Year after leading the Cleveland Guardians to a 92–69 record and an AL Central division title in his debut season as manager. Vogt, who is among the few managers to win the award in their first MLB managerial season, received 27 of the 30 first-place votes. Under his leadership, the Guardians not only secured the division but also achieved the second-best record in the American League, bolstered by the best bullpen performance in baseball throughout the season. In the National League, Pat Murphy was awarded Manager of the Year after guiding the Milwaukee Brewers to a first-place finish in the NL Central. Murphy, also in his first year as manager, received 27 of 30 first-place votes and was the only manager named on all 30 ballots. His leadership led the Brewers to their third NL Central title in four years, marking the first time a Milwaukee skipper has won the honor since the award's inception in 1983.
