Italy Awaits US Extradition Request for Mohammad Abedini Over Drone Technology Transfer

Italy's Justice Minister Carlo Nordio has stated that the United States has not yet submitted a formal extradition request for Mohammad Abedini, an Iranian businessman detained in Milan. Abedini's arrest is linked to allegations of transferring drone technology to Iran, which the US claims was used in an attack that killed three American soldiers. The matter of Abedini's extradition is described as purely legal and unrelated to the recent release of Italian journalist Cecilia Sala, who was detained in Tehran and freed on January 8, 2025.
