Golani Brigade Chief Resigns Over Historian's Death in Hezbollah Ambush
Nov 25, 2024, 03:58 PM
The Chief of Staff of the Golani Brigade, Col. (res.) Yoav Yarom, has requested to resign after taking full responsibility for the death of Israeli historian Ze’ev Hanoch Erlich in southern Lebanon. The incident occurred during an unauthorized entry into the region, which resulted in Erlich, a 70-year-old civilian, being killed alongside a soldier in what was reported as a Hezbollah ambush. Yarom, who was wearing a military uniform, was also injured in the ambush. The resignation follows significant criticism over the decision to allow the entry without proper approvals.
