PRF Agents Suspended After Shooting Juliana Rangel, 26, and Firing Over 30 Shots

On Christmas Eve, a 26-year-old woman named Juliana Leite Rangel was shot in the head during a Polícia Rodoviária Federal (PRF) operation on Rodovia Washington Luís (BR-040) in Duque de Caxias, Rio de Janeiro. Juliana was traveling with her family to a Christmas dinner in Itaipu, Niterói, when PRF agents mistakenly opened fire on their car, firing over 30 shots according to her mother. The agents admitted to firing on the wrong vehicle and have been suspended. The Polícia Federal has launched an investigation into the incident. Juliana underwent surgery and is in critical condition, in an induced coma. Her father was also injured during the shooting.
