OpenAI Launches 'Canvas' Interface for ChatGPT Plus and Team Users
Oct 3, 2024, 05:17 PM
OpenAI has launched a new interface for ChatGPT called 'Canvas', designed to enhance collaboration on writing and coding projects. The Canvas interface allows users to edit code inline, review and fix bugs, add logs and comments, and port code to different languages. It opens a separate window beside the normal chat window and is available in beta for ChatGPT Plus and Team users starting today. This new feature aims to provide a more interactive and integrated experience, similar to Anthropic’s Artifacts, but with added permanence and editability. OpenAI is also sponsoring Marijn Haverbeke, the creator of ProseMirror and CodeMirror, which are used in making Canvas. The GPT-4o model can self-demo its features, and everything was done synthetically, enabling rapid iteration.
