Russia Launches Over 300 Drones and 20 Missiles on Ukraine, Causing Casualties in Kyiv Oblast and Chernihiv
Jan 3, 2025, 04:06 PM
Russian forces have escalated their aerial attacks on Ukraine, launching over 300 attack drones and around 20 missiles, including ballistic ones, in the first three days of 2025, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The attacks have resulted in casualties and damage across various Ukrainian regions. On January 3, a large-scale drone attack on Kyiv Oblast killed one person and injured four others, including a 16-year-old teenager. Another attack on Chernihiv with ballistic missiles destroyed several residential buildings, killing one and injuring four. Ukrainian air defenses have been actively countering these assaults, managing to shoot down or neutralize many of the incoming threats. Overnight on January 3, out of 93 drones launched by Russia, 60 were downed by air defense systems, and 26 were suppressed by electronic warfare. Additionally, Russian air defenses reported downing 16 Ukrainian drones over their territory overnight on January 4.
