Russia Hits Kharkiv with Ballistic Missiles, Attacks Energy Facilities on Christmas Morning
Dec 25, 2024, 04:50 AM
On December 25, Russia launched a massive missile and drone attack on Ukraine, targeting multiple cities including Kharkiv, Dnipro, Kremenchuk, and regions such as Poltava and Ivano-Frankivsk. Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov reported a 'massive ballistic missile attack' on the city, with over 13 explosions resulting in at least three injuries. The attacks involved the use of Kalibr cruise missiles and drones, leading to fires and damage to civilian infrastructure. Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko stated that Russia is 'massively attacking the energy sector', causing significant damage. Nationwide air raid alerts were declared, and energy operator Ukrenergo introduced emergency power outages in response to the damage to energy infrastructure. The attacks occurred on Christmas morning, as Ukrainians were preparing to celebrate the holiday.
