Tamil Nadu Hooch Tragedy: Death Toll Rises to 55, 88 Hospitalized, 7 Arrested

The death toll from the Kallakurichi hooch tragedy in Tamil Nadu has risen to 55, with 88 people still hospitalized and 141 patients undergoing treatment. The incident, which involved the consumption of toxic illicit liquor, has led to a thorough investigation ordered by Chief Minister MK Stalin. The Tamil Nadu CB-CID has begun its probe, and seven individuals have been arrested in connection with the case. The government has also transferred the Kallakurichi District Collector and suspended the Superintendent of Police. Meanwhile, 250 liters of illicit liquor have been seized and disposed of in Tiruchirapalli district. The victims included residents of Karunapuram.
