Russia launched a massive drone attack on Kyiv in the early hours of January 1, 2025, killing at least two people and injuring at least seven others, including two pregnant women, according to Ukrainian officials. Over 100 drones, reportedly 111, were used in the attack, which damaged buildings in two districts of the capital.
