VisitRussian Missile with Cluster Munitions Kills 11 in Sumy, Leaves City Without Power

On November 17, 2024, a Russian ballistic missile carrying cluster munitions struck a nine-story residential building in Sumy, northeastern Ukraine. The attack resulted in the deaths of at least 11 people, including two children aged 9 and 14, and injured 89 others, among them 11 children. Over 400 residents have been evacuated from the area. The missile strike was part of a large-scale drone and missile assault described as the largest in recent months. The attack caused significant damage to the building and critical infrastructure, leaving parts of the city without power. Rescue efforts are ongoing as officials fear the death toll may rise.
