Dec 10, 2024, 08:58 AM
Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva underwent emergency surgery in São Paulo to drain a subdural hematoma resulting from a domestic accident on October 19. The 78-year-old leader was admitted to the Sírio-Libanês hospital after experiencing headaches in Brasília, where an MRI revealed an intracranial hemorrhage. Doctors performed a successful craniotomy in the early hours of December 10, and Lula is currently recovering in the intensive care unit. The hospital reported that the procedure was uneventful, and the president is in good condition under observation. He is expected to remain hospitalized until at least the end of the week.
