Brazil's President Lula Undergoes Successful Embolization Surgery to Prevent Brain Bleeding
Dec 12, 2024, 10:53 AM
Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva underwent a successful second surgical procedure on Thursday to prevent future intracranial bleeding, following an emergency operation earlier this week to address a brain hemorrhage caused by a fall in October. The procedure, an embolization of the middle meningeal artery, was performed by his medical team at the Sirio-Libanês Hospital in São Paulo and lasted less than an hour. Lula's personal doctor, Roberto Kalil Filho, confirmed that the procedure was successful and that the president is awake, lucid, and conversing. The intervention was planned to minimize the risk of future bleeding and is considered low-risk.
