Condé Nast Secures First Contract With Union Hours Before Met Gala
May 6, 2024, 06:10 PM
Condé Nast and its union representing hundreds of staffers at publications including Vogue, GQ, and Glamour reached a tentative agreement on the union's first contract after more than a year of negotiations. This deal was finalized just hours ahead of Anna Wintour's Met Gala, thereby averting a potential strike and picket line that threatened to disrupt the event. The union had previously set up a Go Fund Me page and picketed at the museum, warning of a disruption at the Met Gala if their demands were not met. The agreement was reached after the union explicitly threatened to stage a picket line at the 2024 Met Gala, highlighting the urgency of their demands.
