Pennsylvania Supreme Court Stops Counting of Undated Ballots as McCormick Leads by 17,000 Votes
Nov 18, 2024, 08:47 PM
Pennsylvania's high-stakes Senate race between Republican Dave McCormick and incumbent Democrat Bob Casey is embroiled in controversy over the counting of undated and misdated mail-in ballots. Despite a November 18th ruling from the Pennsylvania Supreme Court stating that such ballots "shall not be counted," election officials in several Democratic-controlled counties, including Bucks, Philadelphia, Centre, and Montgomery, have continued to include these ballots in their tallies, openly defying the court's order. With McCormick leading by approximately 17,000 votes and 99% of votes counted, the Associated Press has called the race for him. However, Casey refuses to concede and is seeking a recount due to the narrow margin. The Pennsylvania Supreme Court, which has a Democratic majority, reiterated its order for counties to immediately cease counting the disputed ballots.
