NDP's Singh to Introduce No-Confidence Motion Against Trudeau Government in Next House Sitting
Dec 20, 2024, 04:13 PM
Canada's NDP leader Jagmeet Singh announced on December 20, 2024, that his party will vote to bring down Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's Liberal government by introducing a no-confidence motion in the next sitting of the House of Commons in January. Singh stated that 'Justin Trudeau failed in the biggest job a Prime Minister has: to work for people, not the powerful.' The NDP, which has been supporting the minority Liberal government, holds the balance of power in Parliament. NDP House leader Peter Julian added, 'We simply cannot continue like this.' If all opposition parties unite in a confidence vote, the ruling Liberals will be defeated, triggering a federal election.
