IDF Strikes Seven Syria-Lebanon Border Crossings, Seizes 40 Rocket Launchers to Disrupt Hezbollah Arms Smuggling
Dec 27, 2024, 09:11 AM
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) conducted airstrikes targeting seven border crossings along the Syria-Lebanon frontier, aiming to disrupt the flow of weapons to Hezbollah. The military operations were part of a broader effort to prevent the re-establishment of arms smuggling routes by the Iranian-backed group. The IDF also reported seizing a truck with 40 rocket launchers in southern Lebanon, alongside other weapons including explosives, RPGs, AK-47 rifles, Burkan missiles, and mortars. The strikes were confirmed by the IDF, with Major General Tomer Bar, the commander of the Israeli Air Force, stating that the actions were necessary to counter Hezbollah's attempts to smuggle weapons into Lebanon. The operations, involving the 226th Brigade under the command of the 146th Division, also targeted Hezbollah infrastructure in the Naqoura area. These actions come amidst ongoing tensions and accusations of ceasefire violations between Israel and Hezbollah, following a truce agreement on November 27.
