Khamenei Denies Proxy Forces, Predicts Syrian Resistance on Hazrat Fatima Zahra's Birth Anniversary
Dec 22, 2024, 10:12 AM
Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, denied on Sunday that the Islamic Republic has or needs proxy forces in the region. Speaking in Tehran on the occasion of Hazrat Fatima Zahra's birth anniversary, Khamenei addressed a group of eulogists and elegists, stating that groups such as Yemen's Houthis, Lebanon's Hezbollah, and Palestinian factions Hamas and Islamic Jihad fight due to their faith and beliefs, not as proxies of Iran. He emphasized that if Iran were to take action, it would not require proxy forces. Khamenei also predicted the emergence of a strong, honorable group in Syria following the recent fall of President Bashar al-Assad, suggesting that Syrian youth, with nothing to lose, would resist the new leadership. Additionally, he accused the United States of attempting to sow chaos in Iran and warned that the Iranian nation would crush anyone acting as an American mercenary. Mohammad Mahdi Nasrallah, son of the late Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, was present at the meeting.
