China Approves 8,550.4 Milligrams of Lunar Samples for 18 Researchers from 16 Institutions, Including Chang'e-5 and Chang'e-6
Dec 30, 2024, 02:35 AM
China's space agency has approved the eighth batch of lunar sample research applications, allowing 18 researchers from 16 institutions to borrow a total of 8,550.4 milligrams of lunar samples returned by the Chang'e-5 and Chang'e-6 missions. The approved institutions include the China University of Geosciences (Beijing), the University of Hong Kong, and the Macau University of Science and Technology. This initiative is part of China's broader efforts in space research, which have included four manned flights and various cargo resupply missions over the past two years. Additionally, the China Manned Space Agency has released its first progress report detailing 34 scientific results achieved aboard the China Space Station since its completion on December 31, 2022, based on 181 projects and involving nearly 2 tons of scientific materials and over 300TB of data.
