China Launches 12-Satellite Nuwa Radar Constellation and 40-Meter Radio Telescopes for 25% Improvement in Deep Space Exploration
Dec 27, 2024, 06:31 AM
China has successfully launched a new radar satellite constellation named Nuwa, which consists of 12 satellites designed to operate effectively in adverse weather conditions, such as clouds and rain. This advancement aims to enhance the clarity of satellite imagery, eliminating issues related to poor visibility. In addition, China has inaugurated two new radio telescopes, each with a diameter of 40 meters, located in Jilin and Xizang. These telescopes will support deep space exploration and expand China's Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) network, increasing its operational capacity from four stations to six. The longest baseline of this upgraded network will extend from approximately 3,200 kilometers to 3,800 kilometers, improving the observable sky area by 25%.
