Alejandro Arcos, the newly elected mayor of Chilpancingo, Guerrero, was found decapitated on Sunday, just six days after taking office on October 1. His body was discovered in a vehicle in the Villas del Roble area, with his head placed on the roof. This tragic incident follows the murder of Francisco Tapia, the city's secretary, who was shot three days earlier. Arcos, 43, was elected on June 2 under the PRI-PRD alliance and had assumed office on September 30. The state of Guerrero has been plagued by violence, and this marks the latest in a series of attacks on politicians in Mexico. The state's governor confirmed the news, and Arcos' funeral was held on Monday.
