NDP Secures Majority in British Columbia Election with 47 Seats
Oct 28, 2024, 06:28 PM
The British Columbia New Democratic Party (NDP) has secured a majority government in the 2024 provincial elections. As vote counting continued, the NDP widened its lead in several key ridings, including Malahat, where they led by 106 votes, and Surrey City Centre, where they led by 178 votes. In Surrey-Guildford, the NDP overcame a narrow Conservative lead, ultimately taking the riding by a margin of 14 votes. This victory brought the NDP's seat count to 47, surpassing the threshold needed for a majority. The final count showed the NDP with 47 seats, the Conservatives with 44, and the Green Party with 2. The outcome was confirmed by CBC News, which projected the NDP as the next provincial government.
