The contract, awarded to 4UM Investimentos, involves a 30-year concession with investments totaling R$ 10 billion. The project aims to improve safety and infrastructure along the 303.4 km stretch between Belo Horizonte and Governador Valadares, which is expected to benefit around 4 million people and generate approximately 80,000 jobs. Lula emphasized the government's commitment to transforming the 'rodovia da morte' into a safer 'rodovia da vida'. The concession includes plans for road duplication, additional lanes, and other safety enhancements. The first year of the concession will feature free tolls, followed by discounted rates for frequent users.
