UK's CMA Approves £16.5B Vodafone-Three Merger to Form Largest Mobile Network
Dec 5, 2024, 08:38 AM
The UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has conditionally approved the £16.5 billion ($19 billion) merger between Vodafone and Three, paving the way to create Britain's largest mobile network by revenue. Announced on Thursday, the merger requires Vodafone and Three, the UK subsidiary of Hong Kong tycoon Li Ka-shing's CK Hutchison, to sign binding commitments to invest billions of dollars in network infrastructure. The approval addresses antitrust concerns and is contingent upon the companies expanding network coverage and capacity.
