Ichiro Suzuki, CC Sabathia, Billy Wagner Elected to Baseball Hall of Fame; Ichiro First Japanese Inductee

Ichiro Suzuki has been elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame, becoming the first Japanese-born player to receive this honor. He received 393 of 394 votes (99.7%), falling just one vote short of unanimous election. Ichiro, the Mariners' all-time hits leader, amassed over 3,000 MLB hits despite not joining MLB until age 27. Alongside Ichiro, CC Sabathia and Billy Wagner were also elected to the Hall of Fame. Sabathia, one of just three left-handed pitchers with 250 wins and 3,000 strikeouts, received 86.8% of the vote. Wagner, who tallied 422 career saves, was elected in his tenth and final year on the ballot with 82.5%. Carlos Beltrán fell just short with 70.3% of the vote, missing induction by 19 votes, and is expected to gain entry in the future.
