Alphabet-Owned YouTube TV Hikes Monthly Subscription by 14% to $82.99
Dec 12, 2024, 03:03 PM
YouTube TV, a live streaming service owned by Alphabet, has announced a significant price increase, raising its monthly subscription fee from $72.99 to $82.99 starting January 13, 2025. This adjustment marks a 14% hike, following a previous increase in March 2023. The company cited the rising cost of content and investments in service quality as reasons for the price change. Despite the increase, YouTube TV is offering a promotion for new subscribers at $59.99 per month for the first three months. This price adjustment places YouTube TV at the same level as Hulu Live, slightly above Fubo, and below DIRECTV Stream's base rate. The move has sparked discussions on social media about the value and affordability of streaming services, especially as they approach the cost of traditional cable bundles.
