Instagram Launches Edits App on March 13, Pre-Order Now on iOS, to Rival CapCut Amid TikTok Ban
Jan 20, 2025, 01:12 AM
Instagram, owned by Meta, has announced the launch of a new video editing app called Edits, designed to rival ByteDance's CapCut, which was removed from app stores due to a federal ban. Instagram head Adam Mosseri stated that Edits will offer a comprehensive suite of creative tools for video creation on mobile devices. The app is set to launch on iOS on March 13, with an Android version to follow soon. Edits aims to cater to creators by providing features such as a high-quality camera, inspiration and idea tracking tabs, the ability to share drafts, and detailed performance insights on Instagram. This move by Meta comes as TikTok and CapCut face uncertainty in the U.S. market, with TikTok briefly going offline before resuming service. Edits is currently available for pre-order on iOS.
