Azerbaijan Says Russia Pledges to Punish Those Responsible for Azerbaijan Airlines Crash on December 25
Dec 30, 2024, 10:42 AM
Azerbaijan has stated that Russia has committed to identifying and punishing those responsible for the crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines plane. The incident occurred on December 25 when the aircraft, en route from Baku to Grozny, was allegedly shot down by Russian air defenses before crash-landing in Kazakhstan, resulting in 38 fatalities. Azerbaijan's General Prosecutor's Office reported that the head of Russia's Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, assured that intensive measures are being taken to identify and hold accountable the culprits. Despite this, Moscow has not admitted responsibility for the crash, although it has promised to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident, alongside investigations in Kazakhstan where the plane crashed.
