This marks Indiana's largest margin of victory in the series and their first shutout against Purdue since 1945. The Hoosiers, ranked No. 10, finished the regular season with an 11-1 record, including 8-1 in Big Ten play, the best in program history. Quarterback Rourke threw a record-tying six touchdown passes, contributing to Indiana's dominance. Purdue managed only 67 total yards, highlighting the gap between the two programs.
