Indiana Wins Old Oaken Bucket 66-0, Finishes Historic 11-1 Season in Big Ten
Dec 1, 2024, 03:36 AM
Indiana University’s football team achieved a historic victory over Purdue, defeating their in-state rivals 66-0 in the Old Oaken Bucket game. This marks Indiana's largest margin of victory in the series and their first shutout against Purdue since 1945. The Hoosiers, ranked No. 10, finished the regular season with an 11-1 record, including 8-1 in Big Ten play, the best in program history. Quarterback Rourke threw a record-tying six touchdown passes, contributing to Indiana's dominance. Purdue managed only 67 total yards, highlighting the gap between the two programs. This was also Indiana’s largest shutout win in conference play in the AP Poll Era (since 1936). Indiana coach Curt Cignetti described the season as historic and emphasized that the team is "not done yet," as they await their College Football Playoff fate.
