Ohio State University, the No. 8 seed, defeated No. 7 seed Notre Dame 34-23 to win the 2025 College Football Playoff National Championship in Atlanta on Monday night. This victory marks the Buckeyes' first national title since 2014 and their ninth overall. Ohio State, under head coach Ryan Day, becomes the inaugural champion of the new 12-team College Football Playoff format. The Buckeyes dominated the first half but had to fend off a late rally from Notre Dame to secure the win. This is Ryan Day's first national championship as head coach.
