Mexico Blocks U.S. Deportation Flight, Halting Trump's Immigration Efforts
Jan 24, 2025, 11:53 PM
On Thursday, Mexico denied a U.S. military plane permission to land, temporarily halting the Trump administration's plans to deport immigrants to the country. According to U.S. defense officials cited by NBC News, the plane was carrying deportees and was refused access by Mexican authorities. Two other Air Force C-17 transports, each carrying about 80 deportees to Guatemala, departed from Texas and Arizona on Thursday night. A third flight to Mexico, scheduled to carry deportees, did not depart. The Mexican government has criticized President Donald Trump's unilateral immigration actions, and the landing would have required Mexico's assistance.
