WADA Will Not Appeal Iga Swiatek's One-Month Suspension for Trimethazidine from August 2024
Jan 20, 2025, 10:58 AM
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has decided not to appeal the one-month suspension of Polish tennis player Iga Swiatek. This decision follows a comprehensive review of the case file related to the International Tennis Integrity Agency's (ITIA) ruling, which WADA received on November 29, 2024. WADA's scientific experts confirmed that Swiatek's positive test for trimetazidine, a banned substance, was due to a specific contaminated melatonin scenario. The suspension, which was imposed after a positive test during an out-of-competition check in August 2024, will remain in effect without further legal challenge from WADA.
