Chelsea's Mudryk Faces Four-Year Ban After Testing Positive for Meldonium
Dec 17, 2024, 11:19 AM
Chelsea forward Mykhailo Mudryk, aged 23, has been provisionally suspended from football after testing positive for the banned substance meldonium in a routine doping test conducted by the Football Association (FA). The positive result was found in a urine sample taken at the end of October, and Mudryk is awaiting the results of a secondary 'B' sample test. The Ukrainian, who joined Chelsea for a fee that could reach £88 million, has denied knowingly using any banned substances and expressed shock at the findings. Chelsea has confirmed that they are fully supportive of the FA's testing program and are working with the relevant authorities to understand the cause of the adverse finding. If the 'B' sample confirms the initial test, Mudryk could face a ban of up to four years.
