Djokovic, who advanced to the quarterfinals after defeating Jiri Lehecka, expressed his discontent with Jones for making 'insulting and offensive' remarks about him and Serbian fans. He stated that he would not conduct interviews with Channel 9 until an apology is issued by both Jones and the network. Djokovic clarified that his refusal to speak was not directed at former player and interviewer Jim Courier or the Australian public, but solely at Channel 9. He also mentioned his willingness to accept any fines for not participating in the on-court interviews, emphasizing the necessity of his stance.
