Jan 20, 2025, 08:42 AM
Russian authorities have initiated an investigation following the emergence of a video on social media that shows military police officers brutally beating and using stun guns on wounded soldiers at military unit 55115 in the Republic of Tuva. The soldiers, part of the 55th Motorized Rifle Brigade, were reportedly being forced to return to the front lines in Ukraine despite their injuries. The video, which has circulated widely on Russian Telegram channels, depicts a military police officer, identified by the call sign 'Madman,' torturing the soldiers. One soldier's spine was reportedly broken during the assault. The officer involved, Alexander Koshelev, has been arrested following the leak of the video. The regional government of Tuva has taken control of the investigation into these incidents, which also included threats of rape against the soldiers.
