Israeli Forces Launch 'Operation Iron Shield' in West Bank's Jenin, Resulting in Palestinian Fatality and Multiple Injuries
Jan 21, 2025, 10:53 AM
Israeli forces have launched a large-scale military operation named 'Operation Iron Shield' in the West Bank city of Jenin, aimed at neutralizing terrorist infrastructure. The operation, which began with drone strikes and involved tanks and air support, is expected to last several days. Palestinian Authority security forces withdrew from the area prior to the Israeli operation, following their own month-long campaign against local terror groups. The Israeli military action comes after a recent Palestinian terror attack near Kedumim, attributed to Jenin-based Palestinian Islamic Jihad-linked terrorists. Clashes have erupted between Israeli forces and Palestinian resistance groups in Jenin, resulting in at least one Palestinian fatality and multiple injuries, including a doctor and a nurse at Jenin's Al-Amal Hospital. Four other injuries were reported at Jenin Government Hospital. Israeli helicopters, Apache aircraft, and special forces have been reported firing towards the city and its refugee camp, amid reports of heavy gunfire exchanges. A vehicle was targeted by an airstrike near the Jenin refugee camp.
