Jan 17, 2025, 12:15 PM
A helicopter carrying four passengers crashed in Caieiras, in the metropolitan region of São Paulo, resulting in the deaths of two adults, identified as Juliana Böher and André Feldman. The incident occurred on the night of Thursday, January 16, and the wreckage was discovered the following morning. The helicopter had taken off from São Paulo with a destination of Americana when it lost its GPS signal at around 8:34 p.m. The pilot, Edenilson de Oliveira Costa, and a 12-year-old girl, Bethina Feldman, daughter of the deceased couple, survived the crash. The survivors spent the night in the forest under a makeshift shelter before being rescued. The Brazilian Air Force's Center for Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (Cenipa) has initiated an investigation into the crash. The helicopter involved was a Eurocopter France EC 130 B4 model, and it had previously experienced issues in 2023 when a door fell off during a test flight.
