HTS Orders Palestinian Groups Disarmed, Announces Syrian Armed Factions to be Dissolved
Dec 15, 2024, 03:25 PM
Ahmed Al-Sharaa (Al-Julani), the leader of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), has announced that the Syrian Ministry of Defense will dissolve all armed factions in the country, ensuring that no weapons remain outside the control of the Syrian state. This move follows the seizure of power by the armed Syrian opposition, with HTS ordering Palestinian terror groups, including Hamas and Islamic Jihad, to lay down their weapons, disband their military formations, and close their training camps. Al-Julani emphasized that the priority now is to meet people's basic needs and work towards a stable and just future. He also stated that there will be no conscription in Syria, and a study is underway to raise salaries by 400%. The Syrian Transitional Government has suspended the Constitution and Parliament for three months, aiming to establish the rule of law and prosecute those who committed crimes against the Syrian people.
