Jan 19, 2025, 03:36 AM
Mumbai Police have arrested Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad, a 30-year-old man suspected to be a Bangladeshi national, in connection with the stabbing of Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan at his residence in Bandra. The attack occurred in the early hours of January 16, with the accused entering the actor's home with the intent of robbery. Shehzad, who had been living in Mumbai for the past 5-6 months and working for a housekeeping agency, changed his name to Vijay Das after illegally entering India. The police have added relevant sections of the Passport Act to the case, as they found no valid Indian documents on him. Shehzad inflicted six stab wounds on Khan, who was rushed to Lilavati Hospital for an emergency surgery where a 2.5-inch blade was removed from his spine. Shehzad was apprehended in Thane and is currently in custody at Khar Police Station, where he awaits further questioning and a medical examination before being presented in court.
