Israeli Airstrikes Kill Nine in Yemen, Targeting Houthi Positions in Sanaa and Al-Hodeidah After Missile Intercepted Over Tel Aviv
Dec 19, 2024, 02:20 AM
Israeli airstrikes targeted Houthi positions in Yemen early Thursday, following the interception of a ballistic missile launched from Yemen towards central Israel. Sirens were activated across Tel Aviv and central Israel as the missile was detected and subsequently intercepted outside Israeli airspace. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that their airstrikes focused on military targets, including ports and energy infrastructure in the Houthi-controlled capital of Sana'a and the port city of Al-Hodeidah. Reports indicate that the strikes resulted in significant damage, including a massive fire at the Hezyaz Central Power Plant in Sana'a, leading to widespread power outages. The Houthis' Al-Masirah TV reported that at least nine people were killed in the Israeli airstrikes. This military action follows a series of Houthi missile and drone attacks aimed at Israel, which have escalated tensions in the region.
