Lester C. Harvey Dies in Lunenburg County After Bear Shot from Tree Falls on Him on December 9

A Virginia man, Lester C. Harvey, aged 58, died after a bear shot by one of his hunting partners fell from a tree and struck him. The incident occurred on December 9 in Lunenburg County, Virginia, when a group of hunters were tracking a bear that had climbed a tree. One of the hunters shot the bear, causing it to fall approximately 10 feet onto Harvey, who was standing near the base of the tree. Despite receiving first aid from a fellow hunter and being transported to a hospital, Harvey succumbed to his injuries on December 13. The Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources reported that no charges are currently being sought in relation to the incident. Harvey, an avid outdoorsman and self-employed contractor, was a father of five, survived by his wife and eight grandchildren.
